While Rita Hanscom (USA) set a world record in Heptathlon in Lathi (6382 pts., W 55) in the WMACS and won the 300 m hurdles in 53,23 sec, Guido Müller (GER) set a.o. new world records in 200 m (indoor and stadia) and 400 m (indoor and stadia) as well and was the first athlete in M 70, who broke the sound barrier in 400 m (below one minute). Guido Müller is the first masters athlete who is the second time "Best Master of the Year". The first time he won the election in 2004, when the IAAF and WMA have awarded the best of the year for the first time.
