2872 European athletes (2149 men, 723 women) set a new participation record (indoor) on the occasion of the 7^th European Veterans Athletic Championships Indoor (EVACI). From March 25 to 29 the Adriatic seaport of Ancona will host veteran competitors, coming from 39 different European federations (a new record, too). The leading nation is the hosting country, Italy, with 1214 competitors till Montenegro (1 athlete), Cyprus, Israel and Luxembourg (each with 2 athletes) at the end of the line of all participating countries.

The biggest interest in events is -as usual- in the sprints: 517 athletes (395 m / 122 w) want to compete in 60 m dash, even 569 (418 m / 151 w) are interested to run in 200 m. All in all 5137 times the athletes take part in 19 different events (14 indoor and 5 outdoor events).

The Italian organisers, the LOC and the national federation FIDAL as well make all efforts for a successful championship in the Palaindoor Arena and the stadium in the direct neighbourhood.
